Evan is an energetic and witty 15 year old with a love of languages, marching band and mathematics. He was diagnosed with DMG on October 13, 2023 after experiencing balance and perception issues which left him almost completely numb on his left side. Since then, he has worked endlessly to regain his functions and is now almost completely back to his pre-diagnosis levels thanks to a biopsy, 30 sessions of radiation, dozens of hours of therapy and a relentless never-quit attitude. Evan is constantly supported and uplifted by the most wonderful group of friends, family, and community that we could ever hope for.

In 2008, in support of The Cure Starts Now, Graeter’s ice cream auctioned off a once in a lifetime chance to create your own flavor. The winners of the auction worked with Graeter's to help develop a flavor to honor Elena Desserich, the inspiration for The Cure Starts Now. Now a Limited Edition seasonal flavor, Elena's Blueberry Pie honors the memories of all young lives affected by pediatric cancer and supports The Cure Starts Now's mission to find the Homerun Cure for all cancers.
